Adam Sandler Confirms Happy Gilmore 2 To Begin Production Next Month: “It’s Good”

Adam Sandler has revealed that Happy Gilmore 2 will begin filming in New Jersey next month.

The actor-comedian spoke about the long-awaited sequel during an appearance on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night. “It’s good. We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anyone down. We came up with an idea — we wrote our asses off,” Sandler explained.

Sandler also revealed that the film will feature cameos from a number of professional golfers, as well as from NFL star Travis Kelce. “What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny,” Sandler said of Kelce.  When word of a possible Happy Gilmore sequel first surfaced earlier this year, Kelce expressed his desire to be in the film, saying he would do “anything” to get a role.

Sandler also told Fallon that he recently began practicing the “Happy Gilmore swing” — though he admitted that he’s a bit rusty. “You’ve got to hop, skip, and hit. I did it recently — it seems simple, so I tried it out, and I fell — but I’ll be ready.”

Alongside Sander, original Happy Gilmore cast member Christopher McDonald, a.k.a. Shooter McGavin, is expected to appear in the sequel. A release date for the film has not yet been announced, but it will be distributed by Netflix.

Meanwhile, Sandler is set to debut a new Netflix standup comedy special, Adam Sandler: Love You, on August 27th.
