Afroman on Canceled Riot Fest: “I Did a Show in Hurricane Katrina!”

Due to torrential rains that impacted Chicago for much of the weekend, Riot Fest 2026 was forced to adjust portions of its Saturday and Sunday schedules. Some artists had their set times shortened or moved up — Tool, for example, played a rare daytime headlining set on Saturday — while others were unable to perform at all. Afroman unfortunately fell into the latter category, and he voiced his displeasure in an Instagram post on Sunday.

“I did a show in Hurricane Katrina one time back in my day! But you know, these young people… they’re finicky and scary,” he lamented. “A couple of lightning and thunder: ‘No, I’m sorry, everything’s canceled!'”

Riot Fest organizers shouldn’t worry about Afroman going scorched earth on them like he did on the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, however: “I ain’t mad at them. They did what they felt they had to do. They let me keep all the money, so everything’s all right.”
