Andy Stott Announces New Album Late Loop: Hear “Something In Mind” (Feat. Elaine Howley)

Andy Stott fans have been starving. The Manchester producer last served up an album of moody, prismatic electronic music in 2021, with Never The Right Time. Five years later, it's finally the right time to follow it up.Late Loop, arriving at the end of October, Stott gave himself parameters: no basslines, no reverb, no effects except for a delay unit. The goal was to reset his creative process and end up with songs, not just textures. In that pursuit, the album finds Stott working with a pair of vocalists, new collaborator Elaine Howley and his longtime foil Alison Skidmore. Each song features one of those two singers. The first one we're hearing is "Something In Mind," a Howley spotlight that leans into foggy trip-hop/downtempo textures but is, indisputably and hypnotically, a proper song.
