Celebrating its fifth year in Miami, Audien’s Progressive House Never Died showcase during Music Week is a reminder that the genre still thrives, louder and more alive each year.
There is a certain kind of anticipation that comes with a Progressive House Never Died (PHND) show. It’s a feeling rooted in enthusiasm, curiosity, and the shared sense of euphoria. Since launching PHND in 2022, Audien has done more than celebrate a genre; he has cultivated a movement and cultivated a loyal following that sees PHND as something far beyond a typical show. What started as a one-off showcase has steadily grown into a North American tour with a clear brand identity. Now, the Miami edition has become an annual tradition, growing bigger and more intentional each year, reflecting a genre that has never truly faded.
While I’ve seen Audien perform before, this marked my first time at a Progressive House Never Died showcase during Miami Music Week, and I knew it would feel different. As the city where it all began, there was a special sense of significance in returning to its roots.
Holding PHND on a Thursday night set the tone for both the experience and the energy ahead of Ultra Music Festival.
Even standing outside Midline Miami just before the venue had fully filled, I could feel a quiet momentum building. As attendees began to stream in, the energy quickly took shape, and a collective buzz signaled something more than just a night out. Once inside, the venue struck the perfect balance. It was spacious enough to move freely, yet intimate enough to feel connected.
Scheduling the show on Thursday night, just ahead of Ultra Music Festival, was ideal. It gave the show its own space to breathe and a chance for the early-arriving festival goers to settle into the city and soak in the atmosphere before the intensity of a wild weekend set in.

One of the standout moments of PHND in Miami was Telykast‘s set. Their performance leaned fully into the emotional heart of progressive house, building euphoric builds that released into liberating drops. When Jazara joined them onstage for their new track, “Ocean Eyes,” that moment felt almost cinematic. The room seemed to exhale in unison, the crowd completely immersed in the music.
From there, the night flowed smoothly into the next b2b set with Lucas & Steve and Mike Williams. Watching these three interact onstage was a masterclass in chemistry. Their playful chemistry made the back-and-forth switch feel entirely organic. I remembered thinking how rare it is to see DJs so clearly enjoying themselves while still keeping the audience fully immersed, as the waves of euphoria swell up the entire hall.

By the time Audien took the stage, the room was fully locked in. He opened with the all-time favorite remix of Bastille’s “Pompeii,” and the crowd erupted in unison. Wasting no time, he moved effortlessly through high-energy progressive house mixes of tracks by Avicii, Zedd, Martin Garrix, and more, interspersed with his own originals like “Drifting Away,” “Wish It Was You,” and “In Every Life.”
Each track felt like it was building toward something even bigger. Telykast returned at the end for their collaboration, “Love Again,” a moment that perfectly encapsulated the essence of Progressive House Never Died: sheer goosebumps, connection, and pure ecstasy.
Leaving the venue, I was struck by that familiar sense of belonging that only a PHND show can create. There’s something truly magical about seeing both new and longtime fans of progressive house come together to celebrate the music they love. As Audien takes the experience to new places, it’s clear that PHND is more than a performance; it’s a living reminder that progressive house never died. In Miami, that energy definitely felt louder, bigger, and more alive every year.
