Barry Keoghan has boarded Netflix’s upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, reports Deadline.

The Saltburn actor joins Cillian Murphy, who will reprise his starring role as Tommy Shelby, and Dune star Rebecca Ferguson. Details of Keoghan and Ferguson’s roles are being kept under wraps.

Netflix officially greenlighted the film in June. Tom Harper, who helmed several episodes of Peaky Blinders Season 1, will direct off a script penned by series creator Steven Knight. Production is expected to kick off later this year.

No plot details have been revealed, but Knight previously shared the following statement: “It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”

A British period crime drama, Peaky Blinders premiered on BBC in 2013 and revolved around a street gang led by Murphy’s Tommy Shelby following World War I. The sixth and final season took place in 1933 and aired in 2022.

Keoghan’s star continues to rise after receiving a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for The Banshees of Inisherin and playing a standout role in Saltburn. Earlier this year, he was part of the ensemble cast for the Apple TV+ limited series Masters of the Air, which was the subject of a Consequence cover story.
