Bedouine Announces New Album Neon Summer Skin: Hear “Long Way To Fall”

Bedouine's last album Waysides arrived in 2021, and since then the singer-songwriter born Azniv Korkejian has teamed up with stars like Norah Jones and Hozier, contributed to a Margo Guryan tribute album, and lent a song to a compilation benefitting wildfire relief in her current home base of Los Angeles. Even with all that going on, Korkejian found the time to visit family in Saudi Arabia, and that trip kickstarted her writing her new album Neon Summer Skin, which is out in June. Its lead single "Long Way To Fall" is out today.

Neon Summer Skin, as Korkejian tells it, is about reflecting on her past after spending her adulthood focused on her own independence. "After that trip to Saudi Arabia, I came home and was so devastated," Korkejian says in a press release. "I couldn't place the feeling immediately, but as I started writing, I realized I was processing that I wasn’t ready to stop being somebody’s kid." Moreover, she wanted her new songs to honor her family's history: "I felt so frustrated about the places that I'm from becoming war torn or difficult to return to... My family has been split apart time and time again, immigrating between Armenia, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. I wanted to document and honor my family’s stories."

The very pretty "Long Way To Fall" is a part-baroque pop, part-country folk tune about maintaining a relationship with a family member struggling with addiction. Jackie Bao directed its music video, which you can see below along with the full Neon Summer Skin tracklist.
