Ben Folds, Goose Announce Hurricane Helene Benefit Shows

1 month ago 9

In the wake of the devastating Hurricane Helene, musicians are coming together to give back. Some artists, like Metallica and Dolly Parton, have made major donations to relief, while others are putting together benefit shows, like Ben Folds and Goose, who have both announced upcoming fundraising events.

Goose’s concert will occur first, starting with a performance at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on October 25th, followed by a show at Avondale Brewing Co. in Birmingham, Alabama on October 26th. The bookings technically arrive as “make-up” dates for a pair of shows in Asheville that were canceled on account of the hurricane, and will raise relief funds “in partnership with Conscious Alliance and local organizations working directly with impacted communities in Western North Carolina.”

Tickets for the Goose shows will first become available through an artist pre-sale opening on Thursday, October 10th at 10:00 a.m. ET, after which the general on sale will open via Ticketmaster on Friday, October 11th.

As for Ben Folds, his benefit show will be hosted at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington, North Carolina on October 29th. Titled “From Wilmington with Love,” the event will feature Folds and a number of “local Western North Carolina musicians.” Proceeds will support “the recovery efforts of those impacted by Hurricane Helene,” and tickets are on sale now.

Speaking about the gig, Folds said, “I’m honored to share the stage and stand in unity with other North Carolina music artists to help those whose lives and livelihoods have been tragically lost or forever altered by the horrific events triggered by Hurricane Helene. Our goal with this benefit concert is to raise awareness and funds to support the massive rebuilding efforts now underway, and that will be ongoing for months and years to come.”

A number of other artists have announced concerts in benefit of North Carolina hurricane victims, including a show later this month featuring Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings, and James Taylor. Sturgill Simpson has announced a benefit show as well.
