Big Ten Weekend Kickoff – Week 2

The second week of the Big Ten Football season is ready to go with a couple of huge early season matchups on the slate:

FRIDAY, SEPT. 6
Western Illinois at INDIANA
7 p.m. | Big Ten Radio Channel 372 – Big Ten Network

Indiana scored a big 31-7 win over FIU to start the Curt Cignetti era in Bloomington. Western Illinois is coming off a 54-15 loss to Northern Illinois.

Duke at NORTHWESTERN
9 p.m. | FS1

The Wildcats won 13-6 to start their season against Miami. Duke was good enough sputtered in its 26-3 win over Elon.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 7
Akron at RUTGERS
Noon | Big Ten Radio Channel 372 – Big Ten Network

A 44-7 win over Howard got the Rutgers season off to a solid start. Akron wasn’t horrible in a 52-6 loss to Ohio State.

Bowling Green at PENN STATE
Noon | Big Ten Network

The Nittany Lions looked very solid beating West Virginia to start the year with a 34-12 victory. Bowling Green had no issue with Fordham in a 41-17 victory.

Texas at MICHIGAN
Noon | FOX

Two teams that look to be in the College Football Playoff picture. Michigan took care of business with a 30-10 win over Fresno State. Texas topped ran all over Colorado State 52-0.

Rhode Island at MINNESOTA
Noon | Peacock

The Gophers were the only losers in the conference last week falling 19-17 to North Carolina. Rhode Island scored a late 20-17 victory over Holy Cross.

Eastern Michigan at WASHINGTON
3:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network

A 35-3 win over Weber Start started the Jedd Fisch Washington regime on the right foot. Eastern Michigan doubled up UMass 28-14.

MICHIGAN STATE at MARYLAND
3:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network

An early season conference battle at The Shell. The Spartans scored head coach Jonathan Smith’s first win with a 16-10 win over Florida Atlantic. Maryland throttled UConn 50-7.

South Dakota at WISCONSIN
3:30 p.m. |Big Ten Radio Channel 372 –  FS1

Wisconsin beat Western Michigan to start the year and has Alabama lurking next week. South Dakota isn’t a bad football team by any means and beat Northern State 45-3 in its season opener.

Iowa State at IOWA
3:30 p.m. | CBS

An early season CyHawk battle in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes started the campaign beating Illinois State 40-0 while the Cyclones took care of North Dakota 21-3.

Kansas at ILLINOIS
7 p.m. | Big Ten Radio Channel 372 – FS1

Kansas pummeled Lindenwood 48-3 while Illinois had no problem with Eastern Illinois winning 45-0.

Colorado at NEBRASKA
7:30 p.m. | NBC

The old rivalry between these two teams is still simmering. The Buffs come to Lincoln after a win over North Dakota State. The Huskers had a field day over UTEP winning easily.

Western Michigan at OHIO STATE
7:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network

Western Michigan gave Wisconsin a hard time before losing its opener at Camp Randall. The Buckeyes blasted Akron 52-6 at The Horseshoe.

Boise State at OREGON
10 p.m. | Peacock

Oregon had a hard time putting away Idaho 24-14. Boise State’s Playoff hopes started with a win in a 56-45 shootout over Georgia Southern.

Utah State at USC
11 p.m. | Big Ten Radio Channel 372 =  Big Ten Network

The Trojans made a Big Ten Conference splash beating LSU in Las Vegas 27-20. Boise State looked pretty sharp in a 36-14 victory over Robert Morris.
