Bruce Springsteen has revealed that the blood cancer his wife and bandmate, Patti Scialfa, has been fighting for eight years is now in remission. The Boss gave the medical update on August 1st as part of a video broadcast during a fundraiser for the Pan-Mass Challenge bike race, which raises money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute of Boston where Scialfa has been treated. “Patti’s journey has taught us something that I hope every one of us and every American can understand,” Springsteen said in the video, which was posted to social media and fan sites. “Medical research isn’t an idea. It isn’t politics. It isn’t a line in a budget. It’s the reason families find hope when hope seems hardest to find. When we lose sight of that, we lose sight of one another.
