The long-awaited Call Of Duty movie adaptation has a release date – but you’ll be waiting until 2028 to watch the blockbuster.
It’s been confirmed that the Call Of Duty movie will be directed by Pete Berg, with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan writing the script.
In a new teaser shared last week at CinemaCon, Berg said: “Taylor and I are both deeply connected to the special ops community.” The pair will be prioritising “authenticity” with the film but are also looking at the group of elite soldiers “on a human level.” They also promised to bring “amazing scale” to the movie adaptation of the blockbuster gaming franchise (via Variety).
The Call Of Duty movie will hit cinemas June 20, 2028.

The Call Of Duty adaptation was announced last year. According to a joint statement from Activision and Paramount, the live-action feature film is “designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series” but will also “expand the franchise to entirely new audiences.”
“Both companies are committed to honouring the brand’s rich narrative and distinctive style, promising an authentic and exciting experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
“The film will honour and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started,” added Activision president Rob Kostich. “Our shared goal is quite simple — to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves, and one that also excites and inspires new fans of the franchise.”
Paramount boss David Ellison revealed that he’s spent “countless hours” playing Call Of Duty. “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve.”
Details about cast and plot have yet to be revealed.
