Charli XCX has announced details of a new version of ‘Brat’, which is set for release next month.
Since its release in June, Charli’s sixth studio album ‘Brat’ has gone on to make some huge waves across the music industry and become a pop culture phenomenon.
As well as climbing up the charts and becoming the soundtrack to the summer – creating the ‘Brat Summer’ craze – the album has also gained fans from the likes of Vice President Kamala Harris, former POTUS Barack Obama and NATO.
It was also given a four-star review by NME, with Hannah Mylrea describing it as “painting a picture of who XCX is in 2024.” “Growing pains, grief and aching doubts come alongside self-confidence, celebration and the knowledge of the place XCX holds in the musical landscape,” it read.
Now, while the singer has confirmed that ‘Brat’ summer has officially come to an end, she has also revealed that a new version of the record is on the way. She shared the news on Twitter/X earlier today (September 12), confirming that ‘Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’ – which appears to be a remix album – is coming out October 11.
The artwork is along the same lines as the original ‘Brat’ album, but shows the writing placed to the right-hand side and inverted. Based on the Spotify pre-save page, it looks like the project contains 16 songs, of which five are previously released remixes of songs from the original tracklist.

‘Von Dutch’ has been remade with Addison Rae, ‘Girl, So Confusing’ with Lorde, ‘360’ with Robyn and Yung Lean, ‘Guess’ with Billie Eilish, and ‘Talk Talk’ with Troye Sivan.
The latter was teased by XCX over this week and officially confirmed yesterday (September 11). As well as Sivan, it also features contributions from Dua Lipa, with the ‘Training Season’ singer speaking Spanish and French on the track.

As well as joining forces on the ‘Talk Talk’ remix, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan are also gearing up to start their ‘Sweat’ tour later this month. The dates start on Saturday (September 14) with an opening show at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. From there, they’ll make stops in Boston, New York, Toronto, Phoenix, Los Angeles and more, before ending in Seattle on October 23. Visit here for any remaining tickets.
This isn’t the first time that Charli has dropped a reimagined version of ‘Brat’ since its release earlier this summer.
Back in June, just a few days after the album’s release date, the singer shared a deluxe edition. She posted the news on TikTok, sharing a live video of a billboard that read: “It’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not”.
The three additional songs included were ‘Hello goodbye’, ‘Guess’ and ‘Spring breakers’.
Last week, A. G. Cook and Finn Keane – two of the producers behind ‘Brat’ – spoke to NME at the 2024 Mercury Prize about what it was like to work on the album, as well as revealing the thing that sets Charli XCX apart from everyone else.
“This album was very different to work on than pretty much everything else that I’ve taken part in because it was so focused and relentless. Charli really has this clear vision,” Cook explained. “We knew it was going to be called ‘Brat’ for the entire two years of making it, and we cut anything that wasn’t ‘Brat. If it didn’t feel ‘Brat’, it was gone! We’d barely even talk about it again out of embarrassment of it not being ‘Brat’ enough.”
Keane continued: “Charli always has a vision of where she is and where she wants to go, but with this, I think it was more than ever.”
