Clairo has called on male fans at her live shows to “stop yelling” at her and “be respectful” to other crowd members.

The singer-songwriter played a gig at the McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor in Troutdale, Oregon near Portland last night (October 9) as part of her current North American ‘Charm’ tour.

Following the performance, Clairo – real name Claire Cottrill – took to social media to call out the disruptive behaviour of some men who had been in attendance.

“Portland was fun!” she began the message, adding: “Can the guys at my shows stop yelling at me :).”

In a follow-up post, Cottrill wrote: “To be clear, it’s fine that men enjoy my music. U don’t have to be embarrassed that U like my music . But when u come to my shows at least be respectful of me and other people in the audience! Thank you.”

She did not share further details about any specific incident at the concert. You can see the update below.

Meanwhile, a new trend at the recent dates has seen fans join Cottrill on stage to do backflips.

Earlier on the tour, Clairo played her track ‘How’ live for the first time in six years and delivered an emotional cover of David Byrne’s 2001 song ‘Everyone’s In Love With You’.

Clairo’s North American trek is due to wrap up in Atlanta, Georgia on November 8 ahead of an appearance at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City. In February, she’ll head to New Zealand and Australia for Laneway Festival 2025.

Her UK and European tour is set to follow in March, with that leg including two nights at the Eventim Apollo in London. Find any remaining tickets here (UK/Ireland), and see the full schedule below.
