Cliff Cash to Release Debut Standup Comedy Special The Long Road

After a 13-year journey as a comedian that’s seen him overcome loss, discover love, and bring laughter to countless audiences across America, comedian Cliff Cash has announced the release of his debut standup special, The Long Road.

Set for release on October 20th via Cash’s YouTube channel, The Long Road was filmed at Thalian Hall in his home city, Wilmington, North Carolina, and features jokes that he forged through a life lived with the resolute point-of-view of a class clown. Starting out as an open mic performer, Cash eventually forged his own path as a standup, resisting the pull of comedy meccas like Los Angeles and New York and instead touring extensively, oftentimes living out of a modified station wagon. In the years since, he’s lost a parent, a business, a marriage, and more, but used comedy as an anchor to make it through the storm.

“Comedy is a marathon, not a sprint,” Cash said in a statement. “It demands a certain level of tenacity. It’s hard, no matter how funny you are. There have been times when my logical mind said, ‘walk away,’ but that little kid, the adventurer, the class clown, just can’t. I just love it too much to quit.”

Now, The Long Road will arrive as a testament to his determination — as its press release puts it, the special is “a love story — a road comic who has fallen deeply in love with life’s journey.”

Additionally, the special gives a voice to Cash’s political perspective, humorously contrasting liberal ideals of tolerance with America’s less-than-tolerant political currents, which often manifest in the most colorful ways in the South, as he observed through his right-wing upbringing. Beyond debuting on YouTube on October 20th, The Long Road will also have a theatrical premiere in Wilmington on the same night. That screening will be hosted at the Brooklyn Arts Center at 6:00 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here.
