‘Clueless’ sequel series with Alicia Silverstone in the works

Clueless is getting a TV sequel, with original star Alicia Silverstone returning. The movie, loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma, was a box office hit and has remained popular with audiences ever since. Now, Variety reports that a continuation of the story is being developed for Paramount+, with Silverstone reprising the role of Horowitz for a six-episode run that begins shooting in Los Angeles next summer. Silverstone will executive produce alongside the original movie’s director, Amy Heckerling. “Clueless is coming home,” Jane Wiseman, head of Originals for Paramount+, said in a statement. “Thirty-one years ago, Alicia Silverstone’s Cher Horowitz captivated audiences with her signature chic style, sharp wit and relentless optimism, helping make Clueless a box office hit and instant pop culture classic.
