Cult of Luna have released the new single “Sadness Will Reign” featuring Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier on guest vocals.
“Sadness Will Reign” features an apocalyptic sound reminiscent of Neurosis and a sonic sensibility Cult of Luna haven’t wielded since their sophomore album Salvation alongside a characteristically charismatic vocal turn from Duplantier.
Cult of Luna singer-guitarist Johannes Persson said of the collaboration, “What I like about Joe is that he has a very particular voice. I think it’s one of the reasons why Gojira stands out as the metal giants that they are. It has its own unique character and would stand out even if you put him next to a hundred or a thousand other vocalists.”
“Sadness Will Reign” is the fourth single from Cult of Luna’s new studio album In the Shadow of Your Shadow, which arrives this Friday, November 6th. It follows the release of the title track, “A Way Back,” and “The Rift.” We named “The Rift” one of our Heavy Songs of the Week.
