Daniel Craig is circling a starring role in a movie adaptation of Sgt. Rock at DC Studios, reports Deadline.

Luca Guadagnino is poised to direct the film off a screenplay penned by Justin Kuritzkes (Challengers, Queer). The report cautions that “no deals have been inked” by James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios with Craig and Guadagnino, with further details under wraps.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert, the character of Sgt. Franklin John Rock first appeared in the 1959 DC issue Our Army at War. An infantry WWII soldier, Rock received his own series in 1977. Rock’s powers and abilities include shooting and throwing grenades with uncanny accuracy, close combat skills, superhuman endurance and strength, and a sixth sense “combat antenna” which warns him of an incoming enemy attack.

Should the movie come together as planned, it would mark a reunion between Craig and Guadagnino after the A24 romantic drama Queer, which is set for a limited release in US theaters on November 27th.
