Descendents are reissuing their discography, starting with 1982’s Milo Goes to College on September 19th.
The band’s seminal debut will be back in print on vinyl, CD, and cassette via Org Music. In addition to standard black and colored vinyl variants featuring the iconic original artwork, Org is also continuing their “Punk Note” series with a pressing featuring alternate artwork inspired by the designs of jazz label Blue Note Records. Org’s Bad Brains reissues previously got this treatment, with each “Punk Note” release also including new liner notes by Andrew Sacher.
Considered a foundational album of melodic hardcore punk (it made Consequence‘s list of the 50 Albums That Shaped Punk Rock), Milo Goes to College was originally released on New Alliance Records. Initial pressings fetch a pretty penny, and later reissues were released via SST Records, Descendents’ eventual label home throughout the rest of the ’80s. Per a press release, the band “reclaimed” and “lovingly restored” the masters for Milo and the rest of their early albums released on the two labels.
News of the reissues comes just days before Descendents kick off their summer tour with a headlining set on Saturday (July 19th) at Punk in the Park Denver. They’ll be on the road through August, with an additional leg of Canadian dates in September. Get tickets here.
