‘Destiny’ is being revived after player backlash: “Your voices matter”

Three months after announcing the final update for Destiny 2, Bungie has confirmed that the studio isn’t finished with the hit online shooter following backlash from players. READ MORE: Björk and ‘Arrival’ inspired the menacing space bangers of ‘Marathon’ In June, Destiny 2 developers Bungie announced the “final” update for the free-to-play sci-fi game. “While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after ‘The Final Shape’, we have reached the time for our shared worlds,” said a statement, with Bungie talking about a “new beginning” for the studio. The announcement was met with anger from fans who’d be playing Destiny for more than a decade. Meanwhile Bungie’s other game, Marathon, has struggled with player numbers. Last night (September 21) Bungie boss Poria Torkan and Marathon’s general manager Josh Deane shared an in-depth update on the future of the company. “We want to talk candidly about where Bungie is, where Destiny and Marathon need to go, and how we intend to earn back your trust,” the blog post started.
