DIIV preview upcoming A.G. Cook-produced album with new single, "The Fountain"

ZIRP! was first teased last week when fans received a hotline card by mail, and the band took to social media to cryptically hint at new music coming. The album follows 2024's Frog In Boiling Water and, with British producer A.G. Cook at the helm, is said to see them lean their pop instincts to embrace the sound of "The New Alternative". "The Fountain" arrives as the first preview of the ZIRP! world, which expands on the themes of Frog In Boiling Water — with societal breakdown concealed by pop sheen. Discussing how he came to start working with DIIV, Cook says: “It was in the spirit of destroying & rebuilding their demos, Screamadelica-style, into a finished product, but that hybrid, half-remix approach felt completely wrong to me. I became a bit obsessed with their live sound, and insisted on recording live drums before most of the songs were even finished.
