Rock trio Dogstar (aka, the third best thing Keanu Reeves has ever done) have shared “Joy,” the latest single from their upcoming fourth album, All In Now.
Following the grandiose title track, “Joy” draws its “ethereal, dreamy” power from a vintage Gibson ES335 Hollow Body that vocalist Bret Domrose purchased during the recording, according to a press release. Domrose then said the move gave Dogstar “some new tones to explore and opened a new avenue for us to explore.” Meanwhile, drummer Robert Mailhouse called it a “moody, creepy piece,” adding that it “opens up and becomes powerful. Lyrically, it’s certainly not about joy as you would see it defined in the dictionary.” Watch the corresponding music video below.
Dogstar recorded All In Now alongside producer Nick Launay (IDLES, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Amyl and the Sniffers) and will release the project via their own label, Dillon Street Records, on May 29th. It follows their 2023 effort, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, which served as Dogstar’s first new album in 23 years upon its release.
In an earlier statement, Mailhouse explained that the record exemplifies the “fun that we’ve always had playing together.” Domrose said that going into the sessions, “the attitude was like, ‘let’s work hard and let’s GO’… It felt like our last album was our ticket into a party, and now we’ve shown up to the party – the three of us.”
To support All In Now, Dogstar recently announced a 2026 North American tour. They’ll kick off their summer of shows first with a pair of California concerts on May 28th and 29th, after which they’ll head to the UK and Europe for a large of run of festival dates and headlining shows.
