Donald Trump falsely claims Taylor Swift’s endorsement with AI-generated posts – fans react

Donald Trump has shared AI-generated images falsely suggesting he has received support from Taylor Swift and her fans.

Last night (August 18), the former President shared a series of posts on his Truth Social account, including screenshots of AI images of women wearing shirts with the slogan “Swifties For Trump”.

Another image of the ‘Midnights’ singer edited in the likeness of Uncle Sam read: “Taylor wants you to vote for Trump”, to which he added the caption: “I accept!”

It’s a surprising move, given his allies pledged a “holy war” against her earlier this year. Swift has not officially endorsed any candidate in the 2024 election and is yet to respond to Trump.

The suggestion that his campaign is gaining popularity among Swifites has been quickly rebutted on social media, with many clamouring for legal action. “Taylor Swift is gonna sue him so fast, he’ll remember why her last name is swift,” wrote one fan on X/Twitter, with another adding: “what is ACTUALLY wrong with him?? this has to be illegal right??”

Even by the dismal standards of Donald Trump this is a new low. All it will do is probably force Taylor Swift to comment and that's not going to be good for him or his faltering campaign pic.twitter.com/SCiSiU12WJ

Donald Trump just made another mistake by posting this on his truth social. #TaylorSwift ##TaylorNation pic.twitter.com/m69zuQGUJ1

Does Donald Trump realize that Taylor Swift hasn't said ANYTHING about this election yet? And by posting a fake AI photo of her supporting him forces her to play her hand. Bro, she doesn't like you, and she will make sure everyone knows that.

How fucking stupid can this man be?

The pop star has been a major topic of far-right discussion recently, particularly after a mass stabbing at a Swift-themed dance class in Southport. Following the tragedy, in which three young girls lost their lives, far-right protests erupted across the country.

Swift spoke out about the tragedy in a statement on July 30, writing: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock.

“The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

While Swift didn’t acknowledge the incident on stage in London, according to Sky News, the musician has “privately reached out the families” of those affected ahead of her return to Wembley.

Swift was also recently forced to cancel a string of Vienna shows as part of her ongoing ‘Eras’ tour after police announced they had narrowly foiled an ISIS plot to attack one of her shows in the country, with officials saying “tragedy was prevented”.

Although she is yet to respond to Trump this time, Swift has previously commented on the Republican nominee, slamming him in 2020 and telling him: “We will vote you out in November”, and accusing him of “gaslighting the American public” a year earlier.

Back in February, Trump responded to claims Joe Biden was seeking endorsement from the pop star to swing the next election in a series of strange posts where he claimed he made Swift “so much money”, and was fond of her boyfriend – “even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me!”
