Time to get stupid excited: There's a new Dummy album coming soon. The LA electronic rock retro-futurists have signed to Polyvinyl for the follow-up to 2024's Album Of The Week-worthy Free Energy. Titled do you love the color of the sky?, it's out in October, co-produced by Dummy and Joo-Joo Ashworth, and preceded by today's lead single "Full Spectrum Dominance."Dummy are name-dropping influences like Disco Inferno, Ray Of Light, Björk, and Seefeel in their press release, where the band's Joe Trainor has also offered this interpretation of the new single: "I was trying to make something just heavier, and we joked it was our nu metal song, during the recording we added the tambourine that gives it a more dancey vibe, Deee-Lite meets Deftones."In terms of subject matter, "Full Spectrum Dominance" is Dummy's contribution to the AI discourse, as singer and keyboardist Emma Maatman explains:This is the Technofeudalism bop.
