Ed Sheeran: “If I Wasn’t a Musician, I’d Be a Virgin”

1 month ago 8

Ed Sheeran, no stranger to thinking out loud, recently shared an Instagram post depicting him playing Pokémon on a massive LED screen in one of the stadium hosts of Sheeran’s ongoing “+–=÷x Tour” in Europe — and said to the camera, “If I wasn’t a musician, I’d be a virgin.”

Sheeran (or really, someone on his team) hooked up a Nintendo Switch to the stadium’s screen, which is usually reserved for showing the action of the venue’s main event. Instead, Sheeran was more concerned with the action of Pokémon — perhaps serving as a much-needed pre-show ritual and stress reliever. Fittingly, Sheeran was playing the Nintendo 64 game Pokémon Stadium, and in the clip, it looked like he was in the midst of a battle.

The musician captioned the post by leaning into the “people who like video games have no friends and are virgins” archetype, writing, “Pokemon Stadium in the stadium #superawesomewickedcool #wannacometomybirthdayparty #itlbefunpromise #cake.” See his post below.

If Sheeran’s sense of humor doesn’t spark any joy, his deep catalogue of music might; Ed Sheeran’s “+–=÷x Tour” continues its final European leg throughout August, concluding with a trio of dates in Düsseldorf in early September. Get tickets to see Ed Sheeran here.

Meanwhile, you can be just like Ed Sheeran and pretend you’re not a Grammy-winning, arena-filling superstar by playing Pokémon Stadium, which you can grab here — but note, you’ll probably have to find a different screen to play on rather than your local stadium.
