EMF have announced the death of founding member and keyboardist Derry Brownson, aged 55. The English alt-rock band announced the news of Brownson’s passing in a new social media post. Shared this morning (Friday August 14), they wrote in the caption that they found out about the loss yesterday night. “Late last night we started to hear the news that we have lost our Brother In Arms Derran Brownson,” they wrote alongside a photo of the musician performing on stage. “We are devastated, the only solace we can find is that we are eternally grateful Derry was able to join us on stage a couple times just a few short months back. Nothing will ever be the same again without our band mate and friend, fly high brother Derry.” BBC Gloucestershire reports that Brownson had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and had been undergoing treatment. Born in 1971, Derran “Derry” Brownson was a founding member of the Gloucestershire group and remained as their keyboardist and sample player after they came to prominence at the start of the ‘90s.
