ENiGMA Dubz’s New Mixtape Features Dread MC, Emz, Crazy D, and More

ENiGMA Dubz’s Mixtape 3: #Bars focuses on his passion for UK MC culture, employing a grime vocalist on each track spanning garage, dubstep, and DNB.

ENiGMA Dubz has been a staple DJ and producer within the UK dubstep scene for over a decade. Making dubstep, riddim, and UK Garage in his own unique sound, his style isn’t limited to plain 140 BPM. You can also typically count on a vocalist-heavy tracklist from his sets and an overall insanely high energy, which has bled into his latest release, Mixtape 3: #Bars.

Over the years, ENiGMA Dubz has collaborated with vocalists like DRS, PAV4N, and the late MC Conrad, many of whom he worked with via his own imprint, Morii Records. “From the age of 15, I’ve always had a real passion for UK MC Culture,” he said. “I accidentally discovered pirate radio one night trying to tune the bathroom radio in, and I landed on some local MCs spraying over grime and UKG… it was more exciting than anything else I’d heard in my life at that point.”

That paved the way for ENiGMA Dubz to pair MCs with his tracks, and the latest release in his Mixtape series puts that prominently on display with almost a dozen vocalists featured throughout. Mixtape 3: #Bars kicks off with a high-energy UKG track, “Charlie Says,” originally released as a single late last year. The track features fellow producer Neumonic and rising grime star Logan_olm, whose edgy vocals draw even more attention than the goofy samples from an old-school British safety commercial series that bears the same name.

The dancefloor UKG energy continues on the next track, “Hold It Down,” with popular lyricist Emz‘s rhymes completing its addictive beat before the mixtape takes off into heavier dubstep offerings, featuring the likes of Limmz, ILLAMAN, and Duppy. Crazy D‘s feature on head-nodder “Louder” is an immediate hit, evident from his first bar: “Yeah, this one slaps, ya get me?“

Additionally, drum and bass fans are even treated to a double appearance from Dread MC on “Told Em” and “Watch Your Mouth” with Slay, with both speedy tracks capable of demolishing a dancefloor.

No matter your favorite style of grime music, there’s something for everyone on this mixtape. ENiGMA Dubz has always prioritized putting MCs in the spotlight right alongside him, and Mixtape 3: #Bars certainly won’t be the last time he does it.
