In April, North Carolina's Karl Kuehn, who records under the moniker Gay Meat, released his debut album Blue Water. The project is a loving reflection of passing time and the increasing weight of impending grief. On Wednesday, Gay Meat returned with "Leslie," a new song that was written for Blue Water but didn't make the final cut. It's precious and devastating.
“It started out as a call to someone who had already passed on, in hopes of finding some clarity in the way the living remember the dead," Kuehn said of the track. "But it's really taken on a new meaning/emotion to me now that my mom has passed as well. And when we started experimenting with french horn sounds in the studio? I knew we were cooking!"
