Gurriers have shared another new single – you can listen to ‘Nothing Happens Twice’ below. The song is the third preview of the Dublin band’s second album ‘Nobody’s Coming To Save You’, which is released on September 25 via Play It Again Sam. ‘Nothing Happens Twice’ was inspired by Irish playwright and novelist Samuel Beckett’s 1950s play Waiting For Godot, and is described as an “absurdist take on the state of the modern world”. The cut combines existential lyrics with the ‘dead internet’ theory, exploring the idea that the online world is increasingly made up of bots rather than real people. It tackles political unease, digital alienation and brings a dose of dark humour. “Nothing ever happens here, nothing happens twice!” snarls frontman Dan Hoff in the bruising chorus, expressing his frustration over feeling a sense of stagnation in modern times. ‘Nothing Happens Twice’ is accompanied by an eerie official music video, directed by Thomas James (Kneecap, Bring Me The Horizon, Young Fathers). “We worked very closely with the lads on this one, shooting in Pierce [O’Callaghan, drummer] and Mark’s [MacCormack, guitarist] hometown – turning it into a changeling, psycho fairy trip thro...
