Hear Bright Eyes & The Lumineers’ Tracks From A New Felice Brothers Tribute Album

New York folk-rock ramblers the Felice Brothers started out busking in subway stations more than two decades ago, and now they're getting their own tribute album. Brandy Schultz, Felice Brothers supporter and wife of Lumineers frontman Wesley Schultz, put the tribute LP together Felice County Fair, and it's got Felice Brothers covers from people like Brandon Flowers, Dawes, Old Crow Medicine Show, Deer Tick, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Bebe Stockwell.

For their contribution Felice Brothers contemporaries Bright Eyes have covered the 2008 song "Wonderful Life." Conor Oberst, who covered Tom Petty with the Felice Brothers at a 2017 festival, sings a spare and tremulous version, and he makes it sound like it's always been a Bright Eyes song. In a press release, Oberst says. "Whatever little check marks in my heart need to be checked to make the perfect music, they check all those things. The poetry is there, the soulfulness is there, the songcraft. Everything is so genuine. I want the world for them, and I want people to have the same experience I’ve had with how they’ve transformed my life with their art."

The Lumineers are also on the tribute, naturally, doing a reverent version of 2019's "The Kid." Wesley Schultz says, "When Brandy and I first started dating, we each made a mix CD for each other, like a playlist. We each put Felice Brothers on our playlists. It was then I knew she was a keeper. A lot of our initial falling in love was listening to the Felice Brothers." Check out the Bright Eyes and Lumineers' contributions below.

Felice County Fair is out 10/16 on Free Flight Records/Sun Mountain Records. Pre-order it here.
