Hudson Joseph Meek, a teen actor best known for playing Young Baby in the 2017 film Baby Driver, has died at 16 years old.
As reported by AL.com, Meek was critically injured after falling from a moving vehicle on Thursday, December 19th in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He was taken to UAB Hospital and succumbed to blunt force injuries two days later. Vestavia Hills police are investigating his death.
“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” read a statement posted to the actor’s Instagram account. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Born on August 5th, 2008, Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School at the time of his passing. His acting career dates back to 2014, when he appeared in the Lifetime movie The Santa Con starring Melissa Joan Hart and Jaleel White.
In 2017, Meek broke out with a role in Edgar Wright’s 2017 action film Baby Driver, playing a younger version of Ansel Elgort’s eponymous character. Other appearances include cameos in the MacGyver reboot series, Hulu’s MLK/X, and recent movies Found and The School Duel.
Meek’s obituary further details his love for the craft: “He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025. He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew.”
Meek is survived by his parents and older brother.
