Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found dead in her tent at Houghton festival over the weekend. The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was found unconscious in a tent on a campsite on the last day of the festival at Houghton Hall in north Norfolk. She was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday (August 9), despite efforts by on-site personnel to save her. Police are now treating her death as unexplained while they await the results of a post-mortem examination, but say they do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances, per The Independent. In a statement shared on the festival’s Instagram page, organisers said they were “deeply saddened to confirm that a person has passed away at Houghton 2026”, adding: “Our thoughts are entirely with their family and loved ones at this difficult time.
