Jack White Gives Donald Trump a Heads Up: “Lawsuit Coming From My Lawyers”

2 weeks ago 16

Jack White says he’s filing a lawsuit against Donald Trump after a member of his campaign posted a video on social media featuring Trump departing for Michigan and Wisconsin, soundtracked to The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”

“Oh….Don’t even think about using my music you fascists,” White wrote in a post to Instagram alongside a video. “Law suit [sic] coming from my lawyers about this (to add to your 5 thousand others.)”

White is the fourth major musician to threaten legal action against Trump in recent weeks over his campaign’s unauthorized usage of their music. Beyoncé recently found herself in a similar situation when Trump’s spokesperson posted a video soundtracked to her song “Freedom.” After the singer threatened to sue, the campaign took the video down.

Meanwhile, both Foo Fighters and ABBA have demanded that Trump cease playing their music at his presidential campaign rallies. Although Trump’s campaign events are covered by broad ASCAP and BMI licenses that permit the use of music, artists have the ability to opt out of these licenses. Once an artist opts out and notifies a candidate that they are in breach of the license, the candidate could be liable for a $150,000 fine for each unauthorized use. Currently, the estate of Isaac Hayes is suing Trump for $3 million over this very issue.

Trump is also facing possible legal action from Taylor Swift after he falsely claimed the singer’s endorsement via a series of AI-generated images posted to his Truth Social account.

White also used his post to task Trump over his recent visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where members of his campaign staff allegedly got into an altercation with a cemetery staffer after she sought to restrict photography in accordance with federal regulations barring partisan activity.

“And as long as I’m here, a double fuck you DonOLD for insulting our nation’s veterans at Arlington you scum,” White wrote. You should lose every military family’s vote immediately from that if ANYTHING makes sense anymore.”
