One week ago, Turnstile took over Washington, DC's National Mall and played an awesome set to 60,000 people. Everyone's been talking about it, including James Hetfield, who says the hardcore crew turned down a tour offer from Metallica.
On his SiriusXM show Riff Life, the frontman said of Turnstile, "We wanted to get them on tour, and they said, 'No. They're doing good on their own already.' But man, what a vibe they bring. Go see them play live if you can. Like many, many bands, they sound great on their records and recordings. But man, when you see them live, you totally get it."
"We've hung out with them a bit," he added. "Super cool guys, super fun. They've got a gal in the band now playing, which is fun," he said, referring to guitarist Meg Mills. A couple years ago, Hetfield was spotted sidestage at Turnstile.
Earlier this year, Metallica had Knocked Loose open for the European leg of their M72 World Tour. Hear Hetfield discussing Turnstile on his show below.
