Jude Law secretly followed Nicholas Hoult around before filming their new movie together, it’s been revealed.

The pair will star together on screen in upcoming film The Order, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August and is due to arrive in cinemas in January.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, the film is based on the 1989 non-fiction book The Silent Brotherhood. The film follows an ageing FBI agent, Terry Husk (played by Law), as he uncovers a rising white nationalist group and its leader, Robert Jay Matthews (Hoult).

In a new interview with the LA Times, Law revealed he was asked by the director to follow Hoult around in secret. Kurzel likes to give his actors “little manifestos” before filming begins to “more fully consider the mindset and lifestyle of a character,” according to the LA Times.

Law was asked to follow Hoult around for a day without being detected and to create a dossier of his activities, just as the FBI agent he plays would do.

“It’s hard,” Law said of the task he was given, but he went on to find it “very rewarding.”

He added: “It’s symbolic of the kind of director he is, how he builds the relationship with the actor and ultimately the character, and how he can then use that on the set. There was such an intuitive sense between the two of us of who Husk was by the time we started to film.”

In other news, Law revealed recently that the cottage from The Holiday doesn’t exist and apologised to fans for “bursting the bubble.”

Law appeared in the 2006 film alongside Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jack Black. The film has became a Christmas classic among fans in recent year and was especially noted for its idyllic countryside location in the UK.

The cottage in question was home to Winslet’s character Iris in the film, and later Diaz’s Amanda when they swap homes as part of a holiday arrangement. The actor was speaking to Zoe Ball and comedian Kerry Godliman last Friday (November 22) when he revealed the home was indeed just a set.

Back in June, Law also revealed he’d be open to starring in a sequel to The Holiday if the opportunity arose. Speaking to E! News he said: “I love the idea.”

In other news, Law recently opened up about his love for Radiohead and desire to work with them.

“I’ve always adored Radiohead. I think they are just blistering with talent. I listen to their music regularly. They’re one of the great bands,” he said.

“I’ve worked with Vampire Weekend [reading a poem on their 2019 album ‘Father Of The Bride’] because Ezra [Koenig] is an old friend of mine. If Thom Yorke and his band want me to do anything, I would be honoured.”
