Justin Timberlake Has Drivers License Suspended Following DWI Arrest

A judge suspended Justin Timberlake’s drivers license during a court appearance on Friday.

Timberlake appeared in court remotely to face charges related to his DWI arrest in Sag Harbor, Long Island in June. The singer entered a not guilty plea.

As Timberlake refused to take a breathalyzer test at the time of his arrest, Sag Harbor Justice Carl Irace revoked his drivers license. The move was a procedural one, as under New York state law, refusal to take the test results in the immediate suspension of an individual’s drivers license.

During Friday’s hearing, Judge Irace also reprimanded Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., for “irresponsible” comments he recently made about the case. In particular, Burke recently alleged that the arresting officer made “very significant errors” in his charging complaint. He also maintained that Timberlake was not intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

For its part, the Sag Harbor Police Department contends that Timberlake was pulled over after an officer observed him blowing past a stop sign and swerving. He performed a field sobriety test, but refused to take a breathalyzer. The officer reported that his eyes were “bloodshot” and “glassy,” and that he smelled of alcohol. Timberlake allegedly told the officer that he only “had one martini.”

Timberlake is due back in court on September 13th.
