Kyle Chase aka Kyle Muldoon was convicted of trafficking “large quantities of Class A and B drugs.”

Kyle Chase, who founded the Liverpool nightclub Spray Shop in 2023, has been sentenced to 12 years and eight months in prison after police determined that he sold drugs like ketamine, heroin, cocaine and cannabis using an encrypted messaging service called EncroChat.

The decision was handed down in Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, July 25. Kyle Chase — whose real name is Kyle Muldoon and performed as DJ Eldon as well as using monikers like ThreeFatLadies, FourFatLadies, and Fat Kyle on EncroChat — pled guilty to conspiracy to supply “large quantities of Class A and B drugs.”

The charges stem from Muldoon’s activity on the platform during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. EncroChat was infiltrated by European authorities in March 2020, and Chase was connected to deals for as much as £416,000 ($531,000) between then and June.

During a time when the vast majority of the country were staying indoors and looking out for each other, Muldoon remained intent on taking advantage of vulnerable people,” said Detective Inspector Laura Parr. “Muldoon wrongly believed he could hide behind EncroChat devices, but sadly for him, this wasn’t the case and he now faces a lengthy prison sentence.”

Muldoon’s criminal record includes six prior convictions for 16 charges. Two resulted in prison stints: One of five years for attempted robbery in 2005, and one of three years for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute in 2008.

When Muldoon opened Spray Shop in February 2023, he said he aimed “to create a cultural legacy that this city can be proud of.” According to Yahoo! News, an attendee who bought tickets to the club reported hearing that the club had been closed as Muldoon was under arrest, and its Instagram bio currently reads “closed until further notice.”

You have clearly developed a skill set in the music industry and you were enjoying a degree of success,” said the judge. “It seems you had found your calling and were working hard in a legitimate business – no doubt that has all now been taken away because of the sentence I am about to impose.”
