Lana Del Rey has shared her gorgeous new track ‘First Light’, which will serve as the theme track to upcoming James Bond video game 007: First Light.

007: First Light has been created by Hitman developers IO Interactive and will tell an original origin story for 007. Patrick Gibson will play James Bond alongside a cast that includes Lenny Kravitz (Bawma The Pirate King), Priyanga Burford (M), Alastair Mackenzie (Q), Kiera Lester (Miss Moneypenny), Noemie Nakia (Miss Roth) and Lennie James (John Greenway).

The game is due to launch next month (May 27) for Xbox, PlayStation and PC but the Nintendo Switch 2 version has been delayed until later this year.

Today (April 16) Lana Del Rey has shared the official Bond theme song for 007: First Light. The track was created alongside veteran Bond composer David Arnold (Casino Royale, Tomorrow Never Dies). Check out ‘First Light’ below:

In 2024, Lana Del Rey confirmed that she’d previously written a Bond theme for 2015’s Spectre, but creators went for Sam Smith’s ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ instead. “How has it not happened yet,” she said in an interview with the BBC about doing a Bond song. “One day maybe. But I’m going to continue to do my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and just pretend that it’s the title track,” she added. Radiohead also pitched a song for the Spectre soundtrack before releasing the song for free.

Del Rey’s involvement in the new game was rumoured last year when a new song ‘First Light’ was registered with the American Society Of Composers, Authors And Publishers.

It’s also been confirmed that Superstar DJ Dimitri Vegas will be part of the First Light cast, while his ravey remix of the iconic Bond theme will also be included in the game’s soundtrack.

Lana Del Rey is set to release new album ‘Stove’ later this year. The record was originally called ‘Lasso’ then ‘The Right Person Will Stay’ and had been due to be released in 2025 before Del Rey delayed it to add more songs. So far, three singles have been shared from ‘Stove’ – ‘Henry, Come On’, ‘Bluebird’ and ‘White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter.

Speaking to NME in 2024, Del Rey said ‘Lasso’s lyrics would reflect her more comfortable, “playful” approach to music. “I’ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on ‘Tunnel’ or ‘Blue Bannisters’ or ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, and just more melodic. Maybe more American Songbook style?”

In other news, Laufey has teamed up with Fortnite to bring her recent ‘A Matter Of Time’ arena tour to the game’s Festival mode.
