Letterbombs – “I’m Not Here To Enjoy My Life”

Prolific Finnish DIY crew Letterbombs have a fearsome, majestic take on their metallic screamo. Our own Chris DeVille has a line about their Bandcamp notifications exploding into his inbox. Today, Letterbombs' tour of the global underground continues, as they've teamed up with another peer for another very cool split.Earlier this year, Letterbombs released PALLA, a split LP with Boston's Heaven Through Violence. They followed it by dropping a song, "God Is From Texas," on a three-way split with Italy's Chevalier and Austria's the Morning Headcount. Today, Letterbombs drop another new track on another split with another Italian screamo band. This time, it's Camelia, who come from Lombardy and who were previously unknown to me.Letterbombs' latest is a sunny little number called "I'm Not Here To Enjoy My Life," and it's got all the apocalyptic intensity that I expect from them. But the real revelation here is Camelia, whose two new songs show true range. Their first track "Anticipo" is a huge, heavy attack with a hardcore breakdown, and their second, "Persona," is a six-minute epic with melodic folk flourishes and new-age recorder. Hear all ...
