Lou Hayter announces her second studio album, Unfamiliar Skin, and shares new single, ‘In My Heart,’ out on Greco-Roman.

Known for her unique ability to integrate innovative sounds with bold aesthetics, London artist Lou Hayter has been making waves with her exceptional productions and dedication to musical excellence. As a visionary in both music and fashion world, she plays to the spiritual quality of dance music, shaping songs at the intersection of technology, design and creativity. She’s been a trendsetter since rising to prominence with the Mercury-nominated electro-pop band New Young Pony Club and has consistently helped shape the soundtrack of events by Miu Miu, Gucci, and Chanel.

As she continues to conceive each project with unshakable artistry, Lou has announced the arrival of her second studio album, Unfamiliar Skin, on Greco-Roman later this year. Reflecting the complexity of stepping into new, unknown territories, the project embodies a personal evolution for the talented artist. Sonically, the songs give a glimpse of futuristic soundscapes through the rich textures of electro-soul and R&B, offering up the nostalgic vibes needed for firing up the dancefloors.

“I’m really excited to be releasing my second album ‘Unfamiliar Skin’. It’s a very personal album to me because I produced, performed and wrote it myself. It felt important for me to do this as only a small percentage of producers are women so I set myself the challenge. The title reflects the new feeling of this role but also has a dual meaning about why the enticing pull of the unfamiliar in relationships can lead to affairs, that’s what the title track is about. I stepped away from my first album a little bit sonically and took inspiration from space-age r&b in the early 2000’s, the sound of Compass Point studios and electronic soul were also a huge influence for me. I have a magpie approach to music in that I’m always looking for something I haven’t heard before that is shiny and exciting to my ears: if it doesn’t have magic in it I won’t use it. I made my own world in this record, I’m proud of it and I think it sounds quite unique”.

To give the fans a taste of what to expect in the album, Lou dropped the latest single “In My Heart.” The song’s funky groove draws listeners into its raw ’80s synth-pop energy, capturing an electric atmosphere with buoyant Balearic vibes and Lou’s soulful vocals.

She showcases her penchant for textural soundscapes and visual storytelling in the song’s anime-inspired music video set against the backdrop of a Neo-Tokyo multiverse. The narrative depicts the essence of a modern day icon who is always staying ahead of the curve, reflecting Lou’s conscious effort to continually push her creative boundaries.
