Luci Evokes Hyper-Femme Confidence in New EP

1 hour ago 2

Bass-rooted queer pop artist Luci unveils her six-track EP, SLUTBASS, fusing hyper-pop with heavy bass production.

Building her career in bass music, Florida-born Luci (formerly known as Lucii) has continuously reinvented herself. From the hard-hitting “Invade” in 2018 to the haunting vocals of “Me and You” with Champagne Drip in 2020, she steadily expanded her artistic identity before fully embracing singer-songwriter territory with her 2023 album, bittersweet.

Now, Luci brings every chapter of her evolution together, fusing her talents as a producer, vocalist, songwriter, and performer. The result is a bold, sexy EP that channels the unapologetic, hyperpop confidence of artists like Cobrah or Slayyyter while remaining unmistakably her own.

Loud and fearless, SLUTBASS is the sound of every hot girl’s summer. With gritty, industrial bass music production and smooth pop vocals, Luci channels a force where dance and sensuality meet seamlessly.

CHEW TOY” starts with edgy guitar riffs and a heavy, driving beat that stomps into tuned vocals that angelically float the piano into a wubby bass drop. Wonky rhythms drip through the next track as Luci asserts “I WANNA” with crashing drums, dubstep textures, and commanding vocals.

Leaning into pop music territory, “HOT IN PSYCHOTIC” transforms into an anthem with twisted, glitchy production. Compressed, club-like atmospheres rise into “PARASITE” as pop vocals take center stage before the bone-rattling bass dives back in.

Helicopter blade sounds usher in the seductive “GIRLS” with a rapidly building beat dropping into heavy, hip-swaying bass. Closing with “Y2K,” the bold and hyper-pop-heavy effort dips back into psychedelic, wonky drops with vibrant, girly-pop vocals and dancefloor-ready beats.

Honestly this EP came out of one of the weirdest transitions of my life. I was dealing with heartbreak, burnout, identity issues, relationship chaos, industry pressure, and trying to figure out who I actually was outside of everyone else’s expectations … This EP became the moment where I stopped trying to be digestible and just leaned fully into the chaotic, hyperfeminine, confident version of myself. It feels like the first project where I stopped asking for permission.
