M.I.A. Endorses Trump, Following RFK Jr.’s Lead

M.I.A. has followed the lead of Robert Kennedy Jr., and endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Taking to Twitter on Friday afternoon, M.I.A. shared a livestream video of RFK Jr. giving a speech in support of Trump, and wrote the caption, “Trump is going to ride America through the most challenging 4 years coming pulling out weed, and RFK will inherit America when God is ready to replant and rebuild it righteously.” See the tweet below.

The endorsement from M.I.A. is a bit on the contradictory side, considering she called the Trump administration “pathological liars” in 2017, but overall comes as not too big of a surprise. Known for her unconventional politics, she’s seemingly gone through the anti-establishment to right-wing-grift-supporter pipeline in recent years, and recently unveiled a line of 5G-blocking clothing items on Alex Jones’ Infowars show.

In 2020, M.I.A. also flirted with the anti-vax movement, saying that she would “choose death” over the COVID-19 vaccine, though she later clarified that she had a more nuanced stance, and described herself as “not really” an anti-vaxxer.

Other musicians aren’t as excited as M.I.A. about RFK’s concession to Trump. After Kennedy took the stage on Friday at a Trump rally using Foo Fighters’ “My Hero” as his walkout song, the band denounced that it was used, and pledged to donate royalties received from the song to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz’s campaign.
