The New Orleans, Louisiana native helped put his city on the map in the 1990s with No Limit Records, making his brand known in music and later in film and other business endeavors. And he sat down with veteran comedian Rickey Smileyfor the latest episode of Rickey Smiley On The Spot to talk about it all. Master P was pointedly frank about his start at 19 in the Bay Area, opening a record store in Richmond, California and taking what he learned back to New Orleans to create No Limit Records, including his meeting with the late Michael Jackson’s attorney to get the knowledge to create the now-historic 85/15 deal he would employ. “That was the best $25,000 I ever spent,” Master P shared.The “Ice Cream Man” also got personal about how his fame and philantrophy has caused him some internal strife. “You know, I lost myself trying to take care of so many people, whether family or friends,” he began. “But I had to learn a lesson, that I’m not God.
