Mastodon Mesmerize Brooklyn with Deafheaven and Alcest: Review, Photos + Video

Mastodon’s “Poisonous Weapons Tour” stopped at the Brooklyn Paramount in Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday night, delivering a triple bill with Deafheaven and Alcest. A single ticket offers the opportunity to see three of the most acclaimed metal acts of the 21st century, only enhanced by the fact that Baroness frontman John Baizley joins Mastodon for several songs at the end of their set. Alcest kicked off the evening at 7 p.m. sharp, playing a five-song set that was as beautiful as it was heavy, with founding member Neige trading lead vocals with touring member Zero. At 8 p.m., Deafheaven took the stage, and from the get-go frontman George Clarke was a man possessed.
