Melissa Barrera would return to ‘Scream’ under one condition

Melissa Barrera has revealed that she would be willing to return to the Scream franchise under one condition. The actress was fired from the horror series’ seventh film in November 2023 after she criticised the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza, while fellow star Jenna Ortega and director Christopher Landon subsequently dropped out of the film. Speaking to JustWatch, Barrera shared that she would come back if the rights were moved from company Spyglass Media Group, who she claimed had not apologised after accusing her of antisemitism. “Not with the company that currently holds the rights,” she said. “I love the franchise. I had an amazing time making those movies. “But a lot of the hate and the difficulty that I’ve faced in the last years is because the leadership of that company made it a point to label me something that I’m not, and they never apologized, even when I was proven right. “Even with an apology, I wouldn’t go back to work with them. So, not that I’m holding my breath. I don’t think they have that ability.
