Mari Rubio stays busy. The avant-garde musician is always juggling a million musical projects, including partnerships with claire rousay and Wendy Eisenberg (as Whait) and Lynn Avery (as Pink Must), the sprawling ensemble Water Damage, and her own robust solo catalog as more eaze. She's about to add to that discography. In October, Thrill Jockey will release valley and structure, the latest more eaze LP. It's the follow-up to Rubio's first album for the venerable label, sentence structure in the country, which came out just a few months ago. This lady has structure on the mind! The new LP features Rubio performing her compositions with Eisenberg, Jade Guterman, Conner Simmons, Nora Stanley, and Sammy Weissberg. Lead single "what's wrong with the structure?" is out now. We're told the track is composed like a minimalist jazz lead sheet. Rubio has this to say about it:I really love this performance of this piece because it highlights the ensemble.
