New STORM CORROSION? Nope! Just A Reissue

1 month ago 12

Storm Corrosion – the band featuring Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt and Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson – released their sole self-titled album in 2012. While there's been talk of a follow-up over the past decade, nothing concrete has ever materialized. So while you wait, why not enjoy this reissue?

Storm Corrosion will be reissued by Kscope on September 27 on CD, vinyl, and Blu-ray featuring a new Dolby Atmos mix of the original album plus a high-resolution stereo mix, a 5.1 DTS-HD Surround Sound mix, and instrumental mixes.

The new version of Storm Corrosion also features a live version of "Drag Ropes" played at London's Royal Albert Hall in September 2015 when Åkerfeldt got on stage with Wilson's solo band. This is the only song to have ever been played by Storm Corrosion, so it's a pretty cool addition! Pre-orders are available here.

As for any new Storm Corrosion, Åkerfeldt recently said in an interview with Classic Rock: "Me and Steve have been talking about that. I went to see Steven in London to talk and to drink [laughs]. There is a reissue of that album coming out, and Steven has done a new Atmos mix. So I pitched the idea of a possible next record from Storm Corrosion. He didn't really buy into my suggestion. That's a shame.

Åkerfeldt continued: "Steve doesn't want to send music [over the internet]. He prefers us to make it together in the same room. But I'll bring it up again, and I'm sure we'll do something new. Should it happen, I would like us to do a requiem, something completely overblown."
