Paul McCartney’s ex-fiancée Jane Asher gives verdict on Beatles biopics: “I won’t watch”

Jane Asher has revealed that she has no plans to watch Sam Mendes’ forthcoming quartet of Beatles biopics, in which she will be portrayed by Lucy Boynton. Their relationship will form part of The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, Mendes’ ambitious series of four interconnected films telling the band’s story from the perspective of each member. Asher will be played by Bohemian Rhapsody actor Boynton, opposite Paul Mescal as McCartney. Speaking in a new interview with The Telegraph, Asher revealed that the filmmakers had contacted her about the project. “They approached me about it, of course, but I said my usual,” she explained, referring to her long-standing decision not to discuss her relationship with the Beatle publicly.
