Porridge Radio's Dana Margolin makes her solo debut with new single, "Big Beautiful Sound"

8 hours ago 2

"Big Beautiful Sound" follows a decade Margolin singing in Porridge Radio, who announced their split in January of last year. She recorded the track in rural Somerset alongside collaborators Sam Yardley and Dan Hutchins, as well as a choir of friends. It arrives alongside a black-and-white video directed by acclaimed director and filmmaker Mike Mills (Talking Heads, Air, Pulp, The National) and Joe Nankin, and produced by Lana Kim, Jett Steiger and Hana Antrim of Ways & Means. Speaking about the track, Margolin says: “We go all the way down together, down a spiral staircase into the centre of the earth where there is darkness and nothing can grow, and we chose to go there, and wasn’t it fun, and right there at the deepest depths of the journey is a glowing ember, something luminous, a big and beautiful sound.” Margolin will also be touring this autumn, starting with a sold-out show in London on 7 October, followed by festival appearances and support slots with Ezra Furman.
