Fresh off the announcement of her new album Mud, Remi Wolf is back to reveal “Bottle.”
With warm guitars, a harmony laden chorus, and a mid-tempo groove, Wolf reflects on her sobriety and the challenges she continues to face from resisting alcohol. She alludes to painful personal lows throughout, wishing that she could alleviate the pain with her vices but eventually coming to the realization, “I can’t get the bottle if I don’t get up.” She recalls bad experiences performing (“An old song I don’t want to play/ My head hurts when the lights go blue”), the flooding of emotion when she decided to quit, and the hope she feels for her future: “I’m an idiot now/ But I’ll turn it around,” she sings. Stream “Bottle” below.
Wolf will unveil Mud, her third album, on October 9th via Island Records. The project, which Wolf described as being “cleansing” to make, also includes last month’s lead single, “Twiggy.”
