Isabel May has been cast as Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) daughter in Scream 7.

The Yellowstone spin-off star has joined the cast for the forthcoming horror flick according to Entertainment Weekly, which sees Campbell return as the lead star.

May is known for playing Elsa Dutton, a main character and narrator on the two Yellowstone prequel Paramount+ series 1883 and 1923. She also recently appeared in the Apple TV+ series Masters Of The Air.

It comes after Patrick Dempsey also recently confirmed “there has been a conversation” about him returning to play Mark Kincaid, who is Sidney’s husband in the more current timeline of the films. He last played the role in 2000’s Scream 3.

“I’m waiting on the script,” the actor said. “I haven’t seen anything yet, so we’ll see what happens.”

The sequel was recently confirmed for a February 27, 2026 release date. Directing the upcoming film will be the franchise’s creator Kevin Williamson.

Melissa Barrera led Scream 5 and 6, but was fired from Scream 7 last year after posting on Instagram in support of Palestine.  Co-lead Jenna Ortega also announced she would not be returning due to other scheduling commitments.

At the time, Campbell – who had appeared in the first five Scream films – had distanced herself from the franchise after missing last year’s Scream 6 due to “pay discrepancies”.

Following Barrera’s firing, Campbell was then offered the lead role once again and agreed to return after “the studio heard me when I talked about pay discrepancy and when I talked about [Scream 6 negotiations] not feeling respectful”.

In late September, Courtney Cox – who is the only actor in the franchise to appear in all six released films – confirmed that she hasn’t officially signed on for the seventh film: “They’re rewriting all the time. It’s not like I don’t know what’s going on.”
