SILVERWINGKILLER detail second EP, DESPERATE STRUGGLE

Formed by Shanghai-born vocalist Yushang Ni and Peterborough-born drummer and producer James Baca, SILVERWINGKILLER first introduced their self-styled sound of "International Industrial City Punk" with their debut EP TRIAD FUNDED released last November. Lead single "WORLDSTAR" has been a live staple for months and is the closest that the duo have come to making a hip-hop track. The song is, as they explain, "built around a loop of 70s Somali disco, with these huge drums and fucked-up electronics around it. It's repetitive, hypnotic and stupidly confident. There's a real swagger to it, but it still sounds rough enough to belong to us." It also ties into travel, culture and Ni's anthropology background. "We took that idea and made it completely excessive instead," the duo explain. "The whole track is basically a massive flex, moving around the world like you understand everything." With vocals split between Mandarin, Shanghainese and English over live breakbeats and industrial noise, DESPERATE STRUGGLE blends African and Asian inspired textures with Manchester electronics, continuing the duo's aim to make music that sounds like "something bought off a corrupted flash drive on the dar...
